Coig na Shee occupies a Highland lodge built in 1903 on the Fort William road at the edge of Newtonmore, bought by Marion and Graeme Broad in 2006 after Graeme moved back from Brisbane and Marion from Edinburgh. The name derives from the Gaelic sithein, or fairy hill, with coig meaning a fifth, an old way of dividing land into shares. Five en-suite rooms are let, with Scottish cooked breakfasts served in a bright room looking onto the garden. The guest house has been listed in Peter Irvine's Scotland the Best among the country's notable guest houses. Newtonmore's setting within the Cairngorms National Park makes it a common stopover for walkers, climbers and golfers using the courses at Newtonmore and Kingussie nearby. Short-term let licence number HI-70635-F is displayed on site.
