The Cheese Neuk is a small cheesemonger on Kingussie's High Street, run by Lydie, who selects the shop's cheese stock and makes accompaniments - chutneys, oatcakes and similar - to go with it, often working alongside her daughter behind the counter. The shop carries farmhouse and artisan cheeses with a Scottish emphasis alongside French and Italian imports, and a short wine list chosen to match. A handful of tables at the back let customers sit in for a cheese board and a glass of wine rather than only buying to take away. It is open Tuesday to Saturday, with shorter hours early in the week and a later close on Thursdays and Fridays, and is closed Sunday and Monday. It is one of very few dedicated cheese shops in this part of the Highlands, distinct from the supermarket and farm-shop cheese counters found elsewhere in the region, and trades from a single small premises rather than a chain of outlets.
