Colemere Vineyard is a small family vineyard at Colemere, near Ellesmere in North Shropshire, planted by hand in 2014 by Rob and Laura Windsor. From a county not historically known for wine, it produces sparkling red, white and rose alongside still wines and a dessert wine, and is experimenting with disease-resistant piwi grape varieties. The operation is deliberately small in scale, with harvest days and events that draw in the local community, a wine club for members, and vineyard tours and tastings arranged through the season. Bottles are sold through an online shop and at regional tasting events and festivals. As an independent, owner-worked vineyard rather than a commercial estate, it offers a close-up look at English wine-growing at the northern edge of what is viable. Visits are best booked ahead given the size of the site.
