Cool Discs Music has operated from 6 Lesley House on Foyle Street in Derry city centre since 1996, and is generally described in trade listings as the city's last surviving independent record shop. The stock runs to more than 12,500 titles across vinyl, CD, tape and DVD, with an emphasis on Irish and Northern Irish artists alongside international new releases and back-catalogue reissues. The shop also carries turntables, band merchandise, tickets and reissue box sets, and takes part in the annual Record Store Day event each spring. It sells through a separate online storefront as well as over the counter on Foyle Street. The business is owner-run rather than part of any high-street music retail chain, and has continued trading through the closure of larger regional record retailers over the past three decades. It sits close to the Craft Village and the Guildhall, within the commercial core of the walled city.
