The name is the recipe, and the shop wears its recent history honestly: the original sourdough bakery on Market Place closed in January 2023, and Alex Shaw — owner of Kickback Coffee across town — reopened it within three weeks, in time for the February Treacle Market, extending the baking to seven days a week and putting his own coffee on the counter beside the loaves. Sourdough, viennoiserie and cakes, with the bread run proper from Tuesday to Saturday; the hygiene inspectors rated it Good across the board in March 2025. Macclesfield kept its bakery by a margin of twenty-one days, which is the kind of arithmetic a town should notice.
