Hawkins Gallery on Milton Street is the shopfront and studio of the painter Andy Hawkins, who trained at Doncaster, Stourbridge and the Royal College of Art, where his tutors included Peter Blake and Eduardo Paolozzi. He now works mostly outdoors, painting the cliffs, pier and rooftops of Saltburn-by-the-Sea and the moorland behind it in oil, watercolour and pencil. Original paintings hang alongside limited-edition prints pulled on Hahnemühle German etching paper and a range of artist's cards, with postage of three to five days included in the price of prints bought online. The gallery keeps modest hours, opening to browsers from midday until four in the afternoon, Monday to Saturday, and Hawkins is often on hand in the studio behind the counter to talk through a particular view.
