Jan runs Herton Guest House from a 17th-century former farmhouse at Herton Farm, on the edge of Barnstaple, offering two ensuite double rooms in the main house plus a self-contained cottage suite with its own kitchen, living room and small garden that can be let self-catering or as bed and breakfast. The building sits in open fields yet is under a mile from Barnstaple town centre and around 500 metres from the Tarka Trail and South West Coast Path, making it a stopover for walkers and cyclists as well as a base for visiting North Devon more broadly. Breakfast is served in the farmhouse each morning. There is private courtyard parking and storage for bicycles, and the railway and bus station are within walking distance. The guest house operates from the one farmhouse site rather than a group of properties, and has continued trading under the same ownership.
