Merchant's Delicatessen occupies a unit in the redeveloped Merchant House on Castle Street, Inverness. Sarah Steadman opened the shop in December 2023 with her husband Rob, after leaving a thirty-year career as a solicitor to work with food instead. The counter runs to Highland, Scottish and European cheeses cut to order, charcuterie, cured meats and smoked fish, alongside condiments and wine chosen to match. Grazing platters and gift boxes are made up for collection or local delivery, and the shop posts orders UK-wide. Trade on Castle Street has been disrupted by prolonged building work around Inverness Castle, with footfall affected by road closures and lost parking nearby, though the deli has continued trading through it. Open Monday to Saturday, 10am to 6pm, closed Sunday.
