Spinnaker Hotel

The Spinnaker Hotel occupies a waterfront listed building on Albert Road in Gourock, overlooking the town's West Bay. The building dates from the 1920s and traded for decades as the Fairlight before changing hands and taking the Spinnaker name in the early 1970s; it has stayed with the same family since, now run by owner Stewart McCartney. The hotel expanded from three bedrooms to nine in 1998 by incorporating the residential property next door, which also created extra dining and lounge space. It combines a bar and restaurant serving food from 7.30am into the evening with overnight guest accommodation, rather than operating purely as a pub or purely as a B&B. The bar keeps long hours, opening from 7am daily and running past midnight most nights. As a family-run, single-site hotel rather than part of a hotel group, the Spinnaker is one of the smaller independent places to stay directly on Gourock's waterfront.
