St Canna'sAlehouse

St Canna's Alehouse opened on Llandaff Road in Pontcanna in March 2017, when the Reverend James Karran converted a former shop into what is recognised as Cardiff's first micropub. Named after the sixth-century saint associated with Canton and Pontcanna, the single narrow room favours cask ales and craft beer served from behind the counter, with no fruit machines, jukebox or television, in keeping with the Micropub Association's model of a pub built around conversation. The beer list changes regularly and features breweries from Wales and the wider UK, alongside a small selection of ciders and wines. Karran, a Baptist minister, opened the pub wanting to create a place where neighbours could get to know one another over a pint, and it continues to trade from this one Llandaff Road address.
