Porter's operates from Harlech Court on Bute Terrace, having opened in 2012 under founder Dan Porter, a former actor. The venue runs live music, stand-up comedy, open mic nights, quizzes and community events across a single space, describing its programming as community led. It moved to its current Bute Terrace premises in 2024 after leaving its previous city-centre site, continuing the same mix of gigs, theatre and workshops under independent ownership as a limited liability partnership rather than as part of a wider bar group. The venue supports local promoters and artists with low-cost or free entry to many nights, and its weekly open mic has run for several years. Seating and staging are reconfigured depending on the event, from stand-up sets to touring bands, and the venue also hosts board games socials and panel talks alongside its music and comedy programme.
