Lufkin CoffeeRoasters

Lufkin opened in September 2015 down a cobbled alleyway in Kings Road Yard, a small cluster of independent units off Kings Road in Pontcanna. The roastery began with a 1kg sample roaster and now runs a 10kg machine, working through small batches of single-origin beans that rotate as each lot sells out. Espresso runs through a La Marzocco machine, while pour-over is made by hand using Kalita Wave filters, and coffee is served in handleless ceramic cups across two adjoining rooms finished in bright wood. An outdoor seating area, built as a student design project, extends the space into the yard. The café roasts most evenings and opens seven days a week, serving a mix of laptop regulars and passers-by picking up beans to take home.
