Uncommon GroundCoffee Roastery

Uncommon Ground occupies a unit in Cardiff's Royal Arcade, opened in March 2015 by brothers Paul and Ian Hayman. The coffee bar roasts its own espresso blend and single-origin lots at a separate roasting facility outside the city centre, supplying both the arcade shop and wholesale accounts around the country. Espresso, filter and single-origin coffees are made to order alongside a short food menu, and the roastery sells beans, subscriptions and brewing equipment for home use. The arcade location keeps its Victorian shopfront and glass roof, giving the coffee bar a quieter, market-hall feel compared with the chain cafes on the surrounding streets. The business remains family run a decade after opening.
