The Bakers of Ealing has traded from 27 New Broadway since 1986, when head baker Emin, who arrived in London from Cyprus, began making cakes using techniques passed down by his father-in-law. His son Adam now works alongside him at the counter, which still turns out fresh cream cakes, birthday gateaux and bespoke wedding orders. The shop sits a short walk from Ealing Broadway station and bakes to order rather than stocking ready-made lines, so customers can request specific fillings, sizes and decorations for celebrations. Cypriot methods inform the sponge work, giving the cakes a denser crumb than mass-produced equivalents. Alongside cakes, the bakery prepares bread and pastries daily, and the business remains family-run, with Emin and Adam serving generations of local regulars from behind the same counter.
