The shop at 84 Askew Road traded as a Wine Rack franchise until that chain went into administration; in 2009 it was bought out with support from local residents by Mohamed Mallek, a wine merchant who had come to London in 1990 and lives above the shop with his family. Trading as Askewine, and registered as Askew Wine Limited, the business sources wine from small growers, alongside craft beers from UK microbreweries and German producers, spirits, and artisan cheese from the French producer Beillevaire. Mallek runs the counter personally and has built relationships with regulars on Askew Road over more than fifteen years. Opening hours run midday-10pm Monday to Thursday, 11am-10pm Friday, 10am-10pm Saturday and midday-9pm Sunday. The shop has remained a single Shepherd's Bush premises rather than expanding to further branches, distinguishing it from larger multi-site wine retailers operating in the same part of west London.
