Robert Opie founded the Museum of Advertising and Packaging in Gloucester in 1984 to house his collection of consumer packaging; it moved to Notting Hill in 2005 and settled into its current Lancaster Road building in 2015. The permanent Time Tunnel display walks visitors past more than twelve thousand household objects arranged decade by decade from Victorian times to the present, tracing how brands from Cadbury to Persil have changed their packaging design across the decades. A small subtropical garden sits behind the galleries, and the museum runs talks and workshops on branding history alongside its changing temporary exhibitions. It operates as a registered charity.
