Duke's HeadInn

The Duke's Head Inn stands on a quiet residential stretch of the Vineyard, off Richmond Hill, in a building dating to around 1868. Pat and Mairead Dalton run it as an independent pub and bed and breakfast, adding eleven en-suite bedrooms above the bar to a business built first around drink and food. Their approach blends a standard pub offer of beer, wine and spirits with what they describe as traditional Irish hospitality, extending to breakfast service for overnight guests the next morning. The dining side is kitchen-led rather than an afterthought bolted onto a wet-led pub. It functions as one of the few genuinely independent places to stay in Richmond, tucked away from the hotels along the river, and is booked directly rather than through a chain reservations system.
