Stephen Foster runs the antiquarian bookshop his parents opened on Chiswick High Road in 1968, trading from a bow-windowed building that dates to the late eighteenth century and is the oldest shop on the street. Shelves run to fine bindings, illustrated children's books, first editions and art and design titles, with a searchable stock of more than seven thousand volumes. Foster, a member of the Antiquarian Booksellers' Association, took the business on from his father and still ships orders out most days from the same address. The shop keeps Sunday hours, unusual for the trade, opening most weeks from eleven to five.
