The BeaufortBookshop

The Beaufort Bookshop fills 1 Beaufort Place in Larkhall with towering stacks of mostly secondhand books, sorted and priced by owner Dr James Thomas, a former secondary school Head of English. Thomas also tutors students from Key Stage 2 through A-Level in the shop, working alone or in small groups around the bookshelves, drawing on more than twenty-five years of teaching experience. A handful of volunteers help keep the stock in order, and on select days a tutor runs reading sessions for children. The shop opens Monday from midday to 5pm, Tuesday to Friday from 11am to 5pm, and Saturday from 9am to 5pm, staying closed on Sundays. A glass floor panel gives a view down into a lower stockroom.
