The Bhurtpore Inn stands on Wrenbury Road in the village of Aston, close to Nantwich, in a building whose oldest part dates from 1720. Simon and Nicky George bought the pub in 1991 and reopened it as the Bhurtpore in April 1992; earlier names for the building included the Queen's Head from 1778 and the Red Lion from around 1800. The pub is run as a free house, with up to seven real ales on the bar sourced from breweries within reach of Cheshire, alongside food cooked in the kitchen. A small coffee shop within the building opens from mid-morning for customers wanting a drink or snack before the main bar service starts. The Georges and their family have run the pub throughout the thirty-plus years since buying it, and it has picked up local CAMRA recognition for its beer range as well as recognition for food and its standing as a family-run business. It remains a single, independently owned village pub rather than part of any pub company estate.
