The Haslemere Bookshop has traded on the High Street for more than fifty years, currently from 2 Causewayside. The team sells new titles alongside secondhand and signed copies, and hand-picks the stationery, notebooks and games sold alongside the books. Three book clubs run from the shop, covering general fiction, science fiction and fantasy, and poetry, and staff operate a pay-it-forward scheme that lets customers buy books for others to collect later. The shop works with local schools and contributes to the town's food bank. It is run day to day by a small team the shop describes as close friends and family, choosing every title on the shelves themselves.
