The Watchmaker's Arms opened in May 2015 as Hove's first micropub, a hundred yards south of the railway station on a stretch of Goldstone Villas better known for shops than pubs. It is a free house, keeping five cask ales on at any time, usually a stout or porter, a best bitter, a strong pale and a session pale, alongside four to six real ciders. A hundred-litre brew kit on site produces two casks at a time under the pub's own name, sold once the previous batch runs out. There is no music, no fruit machines and no television, just conversation across a handful of tables and stools. Dogs are welcome, with outdoor seating for warmer evenings. The pub's cider list has been recognised by CAMRA's local branch in recent years, reflecting a rotating selection.
