John Baum runs The Winemakers Club from a candlelit archway beneath Holborn Viaduct, a space that served as a wine cellar for more than 150 years, most recently as an Oddbins fine wine store, before Baum's business took it over in August 2014. The company had already spent over a decade importing and selling organic and biodynamic wine from small growers before opening this shop and bar at 41A Farringdon Street. Bottles from independent producers sit alongside grower champagne, coteaux champenois, spirits and liqueurs, sold both to browse and to drink in at the bar. The vaulted brick room doubles as a tasting room and can be hired privately for events. Membership gives access to allocations from smaller producers that do not otherwise reach retail shelves. The shop sits at the Holborn end of Farringdon Street.
