Engin and Liz Mumcuoglu bought the land with its ruined watermill near Padstow in 2007, and Engin planted vines the following spring — an echo of his grandfather's viticulture in eastern Turkey. Seventeen hundred apple trees went in over the next two years, and the range now runs from traditional-method sparkling through still and no-added-sulphite wines to ciders that put the orchard to work: a pink cider fermented on red grape skins, a skin-contact cider named Tiger Milk. Everything from pressing to bottling happens on site and the harvest is picked by hand; the tours are led by the family themselves, five wines tasted, with son Tom in the business since 2018. Downstairs, Barnaby's — run by the Prawn on the Lawn team — was named the Trencherman's Guide's best restaurant in 2025.
