ViViVi Studio is a pottery workshop on Giles Street in Leith, founded in November 2024 by Japanese ceramicist Akiko Matsuda. The studio runs wheel-throwing and hand-building classes for beginners alongside kintsugi workshops, where broken ceramics are repaired using the Japanese technique of mending with lacquer and powdered metal. Matsuda also takes on private commissions, making tableware and decorative pieces to order for individual clients, and operates a repair service she calls the Pot Hospital for customers whose broken crockery carries sentimental value. Classes run in small groups so that each student gets time at the wheel or worktable with direct guidance. The studio's name comes from a Japanese word for the spark of an idea, reflecting Matsuda's approach to teaching newcomers rather than only experienced potters.
