The WMD distils gin, rum, vodka and whisky from a single site on the Waterfront at Brierley Hill, close to the Merry Hill shopping centre. The business was founded in 2017 by a family with three generations of distilling experience, and in August 2024 it bottled the first whisky produced within the historic county of the West Midlands, followed by a full release in July 2025 that sold out within a day. The visitor centre includes a distillery garden where botanicals are grown, a bar, a shop and a programme of tours and tastings that walk visitors through the stills. Alongside its own-label spirits, the distillery produces bespoke bottlings for other drinks brands and hospitality businesses on a contract basis. It sits beside the canalside Dr Eamers Distillery Bar, which shares the same waterfront building.
