Adventure Sunderland

Adventure Sunderland is a charitable trust that has run outdoor activities from the Roker seafront since 1996, based at Marine Walk beside Sunderland Marina. The centre concentrates on water sports, offering stand-up paddleboarding, kayaking, canoeing, surfing and bodyboarding, with land-based sessions such as climbing and the occasional powerboat cruise around the harbour. Qualified instructors take individuals, families and groups from age seven upwards, and the trust's stated aim is to keep adventurous activity affordable for people across Wearside. Sessions run from purpose-built facilities at the marina, with equipment provided, and the programme expands over the summer months. Because it is a not-for-profit trust rather than a commercial operator, much of its work is tied to youth development and community access, though public taster sessions and courses can be booked through the year.
