North Pier Brew Co began brewing in 2020 at Tow Law in County Durham, moving through a spell as a contract brewer at the Great North Eastern Brewery in Gateshead before settling into a shed behind the Queen Victoria Hotel in Roker in 2024, in premises last used by the Blockyard Brewery. The site sits a short walk from the seafront and stays closed to the public for most of the month, opening as a taproom on the first weekend with four kegs on tap alongside cans and spirits. The brewery is a member of the Society of Independent Brewers and keeps vegan and gluten-free beers in its range alongside more conventional cask and keg styles. Visitors reach the taproom through a yard behind the pub rather than a shopfront.
