Baker Street Cinema opened in Abergavenny in 2010, converted from a former drill hall divided down its length to create two screens. Peter and Irene Davies, who also run the Coliseum Cinema in Brecon, opened it after a long local campaign for the town to have its own cinema again. Both screens have Dolby surround sound and luxury seating. The programme runs to current mainstream releases updated weekly, with tickets bought at the box office or by phone rather than through a chain app. Running two small cinemas rather than one lets the Davies family share staff and prints between Abergavenny and Brecon. The building keeps its plain frontage on Baker Street, and ticket prices stay below those charged at the multiplexes in Newport and Cardiff.
