Rhymney Brewery revives a name that first brewed in the town of Rhymney in 1839, though the current company is a separate, modern operation that began brewing again in 2005 and moved into a purpose-built site on the Gilchrist Thomas Industrial Estate in Blaenavon in 2012, close to the entrance of the Big Pit National Coal Museum. The brewery produces a core range of cask and bottled ales, including Rhymney Bitter, Dark and Export, alongside seasonal beers, sold through its own online shop as bottled cases and mini kegs as well as through pubs across South Wales. The site includes a visitor centre where the brewing process can be viewed, though hours vary and it is worth checking before a visit. The company remains a single, independent brewing operation rather than part of a larger drinks group.
