Barbican Theatre

An independent charity since 1980 — its registered name, Rent-a-Role Drama Service, gives away the founding mission — the Barbican Theatre on Castle Street works theatre, dance and music with and for young people: the ReBels companies take twelve-to-25s, and the public programme fills a 150-seat auditorium and the hundred-capacity B-Bar, which since 2025 has carried the Sound Factory grassroots live-music partnership. An Arts Council National Portfolio Organisation, run by its own trustees rather than the council. There is no box office window; booking happens online.
