Gary and Elise Jungheim began selling farmhouse cheese from a stall in Tavistock's Pannier Market in 1989 and moved into the shop behind it on Market Road in 1994, with one governing idea: British only, and overwhelmingly from the West Country — around a hundred cheeses sourced directly from the farms of Devon, Somerset and their neighbours, never a continental wheel among them. In August 2023 the couple took a step towards retirement and handed the business to Rebecca Jenkin, who had worked in it for fifteen years and managed the Tavistock shop. Sister counters trade in Topsham and Totnes.
