Patrick and Sarah Saunders began distilling part-time from their Norfolk home in 2011, naming the venture after Black Shuck, the spectral hound of East Anglian folklore said to roam the county's lanes and coastline. After fourteen years of growing demand, the couple moved production to bigger premises at Park Farm Barns in Hindolveston, near Fakenham, where a copper still now turns out gin, rum, vodka, liqueurs and schnapps in small batches. Visitors can book a ninety-minute guided tour running Thursday to Saturday, which includes a look at the still, an explanation of the production process, tasting samples and a complimentary drink in the on-site bar. The distillery supplies local shops, pubs and farm shops across North Norfolk as well as selling directly from its shop and website.
