Dan and Bethan started Bragdy Cybi in Holyhead in 2020 after Dan was made redundant from a job he had held for almost thirty years. The name refers to Caergybi, the Welsh name for Holyhead, after the sixth-century monastery Saint Cybi founded in the port. Working from Penrhos Business Park, the pair brew small batches including a seaweed ale made with hand-harvested sugar kelp that has featured on Channel 4's Sunday Brunch and is brewed only three times a year. A taproom and bottle shop at the brewery sells their beers alongside other Welsh drinks, with bilingual signage explaining the brewing process and the business holding the Cynnig Cymraeg Welsh language mark.
