The Ucheldre Centre occupies the former chapel of the Bon Sauveur convent on Millbank in Holyhead, a Romanesque-style building of green local stone completed in 1937 to a design by Professor R. M. Butler of Dublin. The convent closed in 1982 and the chapel faced demolition until a group of local residents saved it in 1988; it was renovated and expanded through the 1990s into a charity-run arts centre. The centre now includes a main hall seating around 200 for concerts, theatre and cinema screenings, a gallery with a changing exhibition programme, an outdoor amphitheatre, sculpture-filled gardens and a restaurant. Programming spans classical and folk music, touring drama, mainstream and independent film, and workshops for children and adults. It is Holyhead's main indoor venue for the arts and one of relatively few charitable arts centres of its kind on Anglesey. Opening hours are 10am to 5pm Monday to Saturday and 2pm to 5pm on Sunday.
