Melin Llynon at Llanddeusant is the only working windmill left in Wales, built in 1775 and 1776 for a little over five hundred pounds on land owned by the surgeon Herbert Jones. Storm damage in 1918 limited it to south-west winds, and by 1954 the mill had stopped turning altogether. Pastry chef Richard Holt bought the mill and its roundhouses in 2019 on a twenty-five-year lease after an earlier council restoration had fallen into disrepair. Miller Lloyd Jones returned to the sails in 2024 once repairs funded partly by the UK Shared Prosperity Fund were finished. Visitors can watch stoneground flour being milled, buy Monuts doughnuts, and book the Fix the Factory chocolate escape room, with two reconstructed Iron Age roundhouses standing on the same site.
