Awen Menai has traded as a bookshop on the High Street (Stryd Fawr) in Menai Bridge since 1978, making it one of the longer-running independent bookshops in north Wales. The bilingual, family-run shop is co-owned by Rhiannon Elis-Williams and stocks new titles in both Welsh and English, with a particular strength in Welsh-language fiction, local history and children's books. Alongside books, the shop sells greetings cards, Welsh music and gifts, and runs an ordering and delivery service for individual customers as well as local schools and colleges. The name Awen Menai references the Welsh word for poetic inspiration and the Menai Strait that separates Anglesey from the mainland. It remains a meeting point for Welsh-language literary life on the island, hosting book launches and author visits from time to time. The shop opens Monday to Saturday, 10am to 5pm.
