Hooton's Homegrown is the Anglesey farm shop the island grew for itself — the Hooton family's farm at Brynsiencyn, worked by Michael and Rosalind and now their sons, which over half a century turned from growing potatoes and cereals into one of the best farm shops in Wales. The principle is in the name: much of what they sell they grow or rear themselves, from Anglesey beef and lamb to vegetables, soft fruit and even vertically-farmed watercress, filled out with the best of the wider Welsh larder. There is a café alongside, and a second shop at Llanfairpwll by the bridges onto the island. It took a Rural Wales award in 2025, but the real endorsement is the car park full of locals doing a proper weekly shop rather than tourists buying fudge. Anglesey is farmed, green and quietly serious about food, and Hooton's is where that shows. Buy the meat and the vegetables that were in the field this week.
