Ian Jalland, whose family have farmed around Melton Mowbray for generations, founded Brockleby's in 2003, initially running it as a farm shop in Asfordby Hill before moving production to a larger bakery in 2012. The business remains family-owned and now makes around ten thousand pies a week, including the traditional hand-raised Melton Mowbray Pork Pie, alongside steak, chicken and vegetarian varieties. Its Moo & Blue pie, made with local stilton, was named Supreme Champion at the British Pie Awards in 2023. In October 2025 the family opened a dedicated pie shop on Church Street, near St Mary's Church, where pies are sold alongside coffee, cakes and hands-on pastry-making workshops for visitors wanting to try the craft themselves.
