Dedham Hall

Dedham Hall occupies a fifteenth-century manor house on Brook Street, run as a guest house and residential art school by Jim and Wendy Sarton. Guests choose between overnight stays in the main house or places on multi-day painting courses taught by visiting professional artists. The grounds run to open lawns and a millpond used as a subject by course tutors, and past students' work is shown in an on-site gallery. An in-house restaurant, Fountain House, serves both residents and course attendees, with private dining available for events. Course listings extend into 2027, covering watercolour, oils and printmaking taught in weekly blocks rather than single-day workshops. The setting, in Constable Country a short walk from Dedham village, has kept the same owners and the same dual purpose of bed and easel since the Sartons took over.
