Doncaster Brewery is a family microbrewery that Ian and Alison, both lifelong Doncaster people, started in 2012 — Ian building the ten-barrel plant himself, the whole thing self-funded, the beers named after the town's landmarks. Its Tap on Young Street pours the beer where it is brewed, and has won CAMRA Pub and Cider Pub of the Year for the area. It is exactly the kind of small, rooted, family-run brewery-and-tap that gives a town its own beer, made a few feet from where you drink it. Go for a pint of something named after somewhere you can see out the window.
