Frank Godfrey opened his butcher's shop in 1905, and his three great-grandsons — Christopher, Jeremy and Phillip Godfrey — run the firm today from Highbury Barn, all three on the company register of a business incorporated back in 1940. The family once ran four shops from Stoke Newington to Marble Arch; two survive, Highbury Park and a Finsbury Park unit, disclosed here, which is the honest shape of a century in the meat trade. A founding member of the Q Guild with trade awards across three decades, an Edwardian-styled counter, and free-range instincts that predate the phrase — the north London Sunday roast starts here more often than it admits.
