Golf Links House stands on the Dundrum Road in Newcastle, overlooking Royal County Down golf course, and has been run by the same family since Eileen McPolin opened it as a two-room guest house in 1976 to bring in income while raising her young family. The business is now in its second generation and has grown to twelve bedrooms alongside a seventy-seat restaurant serving breakfast through to dinner, with a bar and a function room used for weddings and private parties. The kitchen leans on local produce, including seafood and steak, rather than a fixed set menu. Guests are a mix of golfers using the adjoining links, walkers heading into the Mournes, and wedding parties booking the function space. It remains one of Newcastle's few family-run guest houses still owned by its founding family.
