Gwin Dylanwad Wine is an independent wine merchant, cafe and wine bar in the centre of Dolgellau, run by Dylan and Llinos Rowlands. The couple ran a bistro in the town for around twenty-five years before converting the former Threshers premises on Upper Smithfield Street into a cellar shop with a cafe and bar, shifting the focus from the kitchen to wine. Dylan buys bottles directly from small growers on his own trips abroad, and up to sixteen wines are held in temperature-controlled dispense units so customers can taste by the glass before buying. Light plates accompany the wines, among them homemade soup and Welsh rarebit, and the shelves carry a broad range to take home. The team also runs tasting events through the year. The business trades from a single sixteenth-century building in the town.
