Lockworks Cinema opened in July 2025 inside the Grade II-listed Chubb Building on Fryer Street, once the headquarters of the Chubb lock and safe manufacturer. The independent operator PDJ converted the council-owned building's previous two-screen space into four screens, with sofa and armchair seating and current digital projection. The programme mixes mainstream releases with independent and world cinema, and the venue is available for private hire. Within its first months of opening it recorded 30,000 admissions, according to Wolverhampton City Council. The cinema replaced The Light House, an earlier independent cinema and gallery that had occupied part of the same building. Lockworks is a single-site operation with no other cinemas under the same name elsewhere. General enquiries and private hire bookings are handled by email rather than phone.
