Marrin's Bookshop traces its history to 1946, when George and Doris Marrin began selling books in Folkestone after George returned from war service on his doctor's advice to take the sea air. The business moved into the ground floor of 149 Sandgate Road in 1962, later expanding upstairs as George's sons John and Patrick joined the trade. George continued running the shop until his ninetieth birthday, and Patrick worked there until his death in 2022. The shop specialises in antiquarian and secondhand books, maps and prints, with stock ranging from Folkestone local history to literary first editions. It remains one of the few shops of its kind still trading on Sandgate Road.
