Paul McKenna opened his commercial art gallery on Castle Street in Omagh in 2008, after years spent dealing in and advising on modern Irish art. The gallery occupies a purpose-built two-storey space on the bank of the River Strule, built specifically to show and sell paintings and sculpture rather than adapted from another use. McKenna represents more than fifteen contemporary Irish artists, including James Cahill, Mark Shields and Simon Cook, hanging changing selections of paintings and sculpture across both floors. Exhibitions rotate through the year, with pieces available to buy directly from the gallery rather than through auction. The business operates from this single Omagh address only, with no branch elsewhere in Northern Ireland. It opens Tuesday to Saturday, 10am to 5pm, and closes on Sundays and Mondays.
