McKenzie's Biscuits on Main Street traces back to a bakery opened in Turriff in 1952 by Gerry McKenzie's father. Gerry took over the business and in 1981 refocused it on biscuit and oatcake production, formalising it as McKenzie Biscuits, which also has a production site at Cuminestown. The shop bakes oatcakes and sweet and savoury biscuits to traditional Scottish recipes, several of which have won gold medals at the Guild of Fine Food's Great Taste Awards. The Main Street premises act as both retail counter and bakery outlet, selling directly to walk-in customers as well as by mail order to buyers further afield. Locals regard the shop as a long-standing fixture of the town's high street, run day to day by the McKenzie family rather than external management, with recipes and production methods passed down from the original 1952 bakery. The shop opens six mornings a week.
