Larks Gallery occupies a shopfront on Braemar Road in Ballater, where owner Pip Will, originally from New Zealand and resident in Scotland for three decades, has traded since 2011. Alongside a rolling programme of exhibitions by Scottish painters, the gallery sells Will's own handmade glass-bead jewellery, made and finished on the premises. Each month a different Scottish artist is given wall space, so stock changes regularly rather than sitting as a fixed permanent collection. The gallery mixes original paintings, prints and small craft pieces, aimed at both collectors and passing visitors travelling the Deeside road toward Balmoral and Braemar. Its position on the main street puts it among the handful of independent retailers left in the village centre.
