Founded in 2012 by potter Sylwia Kolasinska, Mud Station began as a personal clay workspace before developing into a teaching studio, now based at East Norton Place after relocating from its original Montrose Terrace premises in 2025. The single-site studio runs adult classes in wheel throwing and hand building, from complete beginners through to advanced makers, alongside kiln hire and studio membership for practising potters. Facilities include multiple pottery wheels, hand-building benches, a slab roller and electric kilns. Output ranges from everyday tableware to sculptural pieces, with tutors working alongside students rather than simply demonstrating technique. The studio is registered with Social Enterprise Scotland and has built a regular membership base over more than a decade of teaching in Edinburgh.
